Terms and Conditions of Use of Map API

The information provided by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“the Government”) on Map API, including but not limited to digital maps, mapping information, lot information, aerial photographs, facility information, geographic information (“Information”), is for general reference only and is not intended to be relied upon. No statement, representation or warranty, express or implied, is given by the Government as to its accuracy, completeness or appropriateness for use in any particular circumstances. The Government shall not be liable for any errors, omissions, misstatements or misrepresentations (express or implied), concerning any Information, and shall not have or accept any liability, obligation or responsibility whatsoever for any loss, destruction or damage (including without limitation consequential loss, destruction or damage) howsoever arising from or in respect of using, misusing, inability to use or relying on the Information.

The Government does not warrant or represent that Map API or any Information or any electronic data or information transmitted from the Government to users through Map API is free of computer viruses. The Government shall not be liable for any loss, destruction or damage arising out of or in relation to any transmission from users to the Government or vice versa over the internet.

The Government shall not be responsible for any loss or damage whatsoever arising out of or in connection with the Information. The Government reserves the right to revise, omit, suspend or edit the Information at any time in its absolute discretion without giving any reason or prior notice to users. Before acting up on the Information, users are

  1. responsible for making their own assessment of the Information;

  2. advised to verify the Information by making reference, for example, to original publications, other relevant documentation and site situation; and

  3. advised to obtain independent advice from relevant professionals.

Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, nothing on or provided via Map API shall constitute, give rise to or otherwise imply any endorsement, approval or recommendation on the Government’s part of any third party, be it a provider of goods or services or otherwise.

Provision of, or assistance in providing the Map API to third-party websites does not give rise to any statement, representation or warranty, express or implied, that the Government agrees with, approves or endorses the contents of any such third-party websites. The Government shall not have or accept any liability, obligation or responsibility whatsoever for any loss, destruction or damage (including without limitation consequential loss, destruction or damage) howsoever arising from or in respect of using, misusing, inability to use, or relying on such materials or third-party websites. Users should refer to the terms and conditions of individual websites when using such information. A user is deemed to have accepted this Terms and Conditions of Use for the Information from Map API when the user uses such information on those external websites. Permission has to be obtained from the third party owners for the use of the contents and materials on those external websites.
